Milk

"Milk" is an amazing film. I will admit it was kind of a odd choice for a Valentine's Day date but I am tremendously glad we went. This and Slumdog Millionaire will both be battling for my choice for best movie of the year. James Franco is outstanding as is Emile Hirsche (who continues to impress me with every new movie he's in), but Sean Penn steals the show. Penn doesn't just play the title role, he is Harvey Milk in this movie. He absolutely deserves the Oscar for Berst Actor this year and it would be a shame if he doesn't win the award.

Gladiator

I know is has taken me a while to see this movie but I finally watched it and I loved it, it was totally bad ass! Russel Crowe is awesome in this film and although I do not usually like him he did a really good job in this film. And although this film is definitely action packed it also has substance and is thoroughly enjoyable.

Revolutionary Road

This movie is a very interesting look into married life in the 1950's. I thought the acting and storyline were very well done and overall the movie was really good. I do not usually spend a lot of time paying attention to the filming techinique of a film but I really liked the camera angles and the way it was filmed, it really adds to the overall story. This movie is not necessarily easy to watch but it very good. The characters are interesting and well developed and you cannot help but get caught up in their pain and story. I really enjoyed this film and would recomend it completely.

Slumdog Millionaire

This movie is so, so good. "Slumdog Millionaire" takes the viewer on a range of so any emotions from immense happiness to complete shock to intense hilarity. The characters are amazingly developed so you become so attached to all of them from the main character of Jamil to the sleazy gameshow host. In all honesty, it was the second best movie I've seen in probably two years, second only to "The Dark Knight." Freida Pinto and Dev Patel are both amazing in this film and I hope to see both of them again in other roles. Go see this in the theater if you haven't yet.

The Pianist

Adrien Brody carries this film about Nazi-Poland and the Jewish struggle to survive the second World War. "The Painist" is rather long and pretty gruesome at times. However, it is definately worth watching once to get a perspective on how awful the war was and to see that some caring people existed throughout all the awefulness.

Run Fatboy Run

As a part time runner, I sometimes need inspiration to lace up my shoes and go for a jog. In "Run Fatboy Run", any runner can find the encouragement that they would need to do so. It is a hilarious movie about a out of shape mall cop who is trying to prove his love by running a marathon. I'll be honest; I love Simon Peg. He is probably my favorite British comedian. And he doesn't disappoint. Hank Azaria also provides a great enemy for Simon Peg. Yes, there are some typically bad lines and cheesy moments when one watches an 'inspirational' movie but really, who cares; its funny. Check this movie out.
